2003 Martin D-17 Serial#: 918483
The Martin D-17 was run for a limited time in early 2000's. This was a unique high end version of the inexpensive D-15 and 16 series, but with quality solid Mahogany front, back and sides; a solid one piece mortise/Tenon Neck Joint, genuine Mahogany neck, Style 17 Rosette, D1 Hybrid bracing 1 Style scalloped, Style 18 purfling, Tortoise color binding, modified low oval neck shape, White Corian nut, black Micarta fingerboard and bridge with - here's the rub - Polished Gloss finish on top back and sides.
I had a K&K pure western passive pick-up system installed for warm natural acoustic amplification. I also hand buffed the satin finish on the neck and headstock to a polished gloss. The added durability of the Micarta neck and the soft gloss finish on the neck make this an absolute dream to play.
Some minor fret wear in first position, but I only mention it because you can see it. Ther eguitar has incredible low and fast action with no buzzing.
Original Martin Hardshell Case with plush green lining. Fits like a glove.
These D-17's are no longer available new and are sought after by ones in the know for a pure warm Martin Mahogany Dreadnaught tone for extremely reasonable pricing. A real players piece in amazing shape considering she has been played in for the 5 years I've cared for her.
